تُقدّم لعبة GUTS العديد من الابتكارات مقارنةً بألعاب القتال الأخرى المتوفرة حاليًا. لا تحتوي GUTS على شريط صحة. يجب على المقاتلين قطع أذرع وأرجل أعدائهم وتوجيه ضربة قاضية أخيرة للفوز. لذا، لا جدوى من مواصلة الركل واللكم: يجب عليك قطع أوصالك للفوز. هناك عدة طرق مختلفة لقطع أوصال الخصم: الطريقة الرئيسية هي حركات GUTS، وهي هجمات خاصة لا يمكن صدها، تُقطع أحد الأطراف عند الالتحام. الطريقة الثانية لقطع أوصال الخصم هي ميزة فريدة أخرى في GUTS: المخاطر، أو الفخاخ. لكل مرحلة فخاخ خاصة، ذات سلوكيات مميزة، تُقطع أوصال الخصم عند لمسها.

NOTES: The new v2.0 for GUTS brings a multitude of improvements to the game that will not only enhance gameplay but also make the game more accessible for new players entering battle. Apart from enhanced graphics, the game receives a complete overhaul of the fighting system to allow for faster and more fluid action.
