في لعبة "أنا حي"، سيواجه اللاعبون تحديات من بيئتهم وأعدائهم. القدرة على التحمل وإدارة الموارد أمران أساسيان عند التعرض لأجواء قاتلة وتسلق مبانٍ ضخمة بحثًا عن الإمدادات. يتطلب نظام القتال الفريد من اللاعبين استخدام الترهيب: فالجبناء يُقهرون بسهولة بسلاح فارغ، بينما سيختبر أعداء آخرون قدراتهم.
